man mountain: trunk edition

That's right Abode Lovers! The trunk is for the<a href="http://abodelove.blogspot.com/2010/09/orange-you-glad-i-did-this-post.html"> Man Mountain</a>! I took a little jaunt down to <a href="http://www.restorationhardware.com/">Restoration Hardware</a> about 2 weeks ago and <i>stumbled</i> across this trunk that I've been obsessed with for months... it was on sale. Not only was it on sale, but I had just received the <i>HUGE</i> RH catalog and inside those gorgeous pages was a g<i>olden ticket</i>... 10% off all sale furniture. So-- what else was I supposed to do? Just stand there... golden ticket in hand and let the sale pass me by?? Nope, no way- I refuse to sit on the sidelines of <i>my</i> decorating life (especially when you get 12 months no interest on your RH card...).  I have been pondering this coffee table situation for almost a year- so I was well researched in options and prices... but it was a tad unexpected (especially when I received it so quickly! As I mentioned yesterday, I was told it could be MONTHS until it's arrival....) The ottoman was fine <i>I guess</i>... but I have dreamed of getting a lighter piece that sits lower to the ground so that it's a more comfortable height compared to the sofa. The dark, chocolate brown leather ottoman felt really heavy in the space- especially once I painted the cream and white stripes. I knew I would have to find something new-- So, I have been going back and forth for months about whether to get something made of wood that's rustic, like a brickmakers table-- OR a trunk. As you can see.... Mr. Husband and his friend Lando hung the TV! hooray! It looks <i>SO</i> much better! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">For Christmas, Mr.Hubbs received vintage Auburn program covers framed from his <i>loving</i> wifey... :) I also framed a pair of tickets from this seasons AU/UGA game, and a Sugar Bowl ticket from <i>years</i> ago. Mr. Husband also gifted a few AU treasures as well... I framed 3 1985 Iron Bowl tickets<i> (the first Iron Bowl played in Auburn) </i>from when Mr.Hubbs was just a little tike! His dad took he and his brother to watch the Tigers play- so each guy got a ticket-- so awesome, the tickets used to be HUGE and like little pieces of art themselves! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">But the STAR of this Christmas at my parent's abode was Cam Newton- people received jerseys, signed photographs and other fun auburn things. BUT- the biggest thrill of the day was opening a print from my mom. Everyone got one... we all opened them at the same time <i>(my mom loves The Family Stone)</i> and I was the first to notice the signature on the Auburn print. My unbelievably talented mother, <i>who is primarily an aviation artist</i>, had painted a scene from the Iron Bowl and had made prints for all of the kids... I was in tears. I could not believe that my mom pulled something like that off without anyone knowing! My dad was shocked and in complete awe of his talented lady... it was an amazing moment.
