landon & kelli's downstairs reveal!

Good Morning abode lovers! So, anyone who has been an avid abode lover for more than a year may feel this post to be a bit familiar. Why? Well, because I am finally posting about a long awaited living space that I designed for Landon and Kelli! This was quite a project- we started with the living space and moved into the dining area and the kitchen... this was SO fun!

And here, my friends is the finished product! I am loving this abode! 

This is the view right when you walk into Landon and Kelli's abode... Love the ladder that Kelli found, it's perfect to store comfy throws. We used a warmer, darker gray for the living room to make it feel it a bit more cozy and infuse a little drama and separation into this main level. 

The sofa was the first piece that we had to work around. It's a plush, super comfy linen sofa from ZGallerie. Kelli knew she wanted a gallery wall somewhere in her home and this space seemed like the perfect place to start a growing collection of art, mirrors and photos. The wood block drapery panels are from West Elm and the brass library floor lamp was a lucky find from TJMaxx! 

Here is a close look at the gallery wall. I love the bright whites mixed with the rustic frames. We wanted to make sure to use gold finishes as well as silver to add a layer of sophistication, glamour and a feeling of collectedness. 

Here is a view of the entire living space if you're standing in the dining area. The most recent piece added to the living room is the tall, gorgeous piece in the corner. This was a great find from Wisteria and it goes beautifully in the space. We got this beautiful little linen European settee from Wisteria as well. It's a lovely piece that adds a lightness and a more "dainty" shape to this space that contains so many large, heavy pieces. The oversized chairs with their backs facing us are from Crate&Barrel- this style is popping up everywhere and I love the comfy, easy feeling that these slipcovered beauties bring to this living room.

This large coffee table via Restoration Hardware was such a perfect fit for what Landon and Kelli were looking for in their living space. There is a lower level to stash throw blankets, magazines and other useful items. On the top, we added a few large lanterns, a small silver tray and a place to stash the remotes. 

These are the little moments in the space that really give this living room life. The butter yellow ceramic lamp via Pottery Barn was the perfect way to add a bit of color to the space. We topped off the lamp with the breathtaking Quiet Mist lampshade from Anthropologie. I swear, an Anthro lampshade can make a room. The driftwood in table was also a great find via Crate&Barrel. I love the natural and organic form of this piece. It really breaks up all of the hard and fast lines that you see in the space. 

 

To add a young feel to this very rustic and neutral room, we decided on the AMAZING Festival rug in gold from Anthropologie to add color, pattern and life into the space. We pulled our entire color palette from this one piece. It's so fun to find a client that is willing to try such a great statement piece!

Here is another look at the Wisteria glass door bookcase. I love the details on the doors as well as the simple brass hardware. This piece really is lovely in the space. 

 

And now... on to the kitchen/dining area. Kelli and Landon picked the colors of the cabinetry and I think they're gorgeous. I love an accenting island and there's really nothing better than a kitchen in shades of white and cream. Kelli knew that she would want to add a backsplash eventually and we testing multiple options, but this small rectangular white and sparkly tile was perfect!

Here is a closer look at the backsplash. I love the gray grout that really shows off the pattern. And who can have a kitchen without a little Pellegrino? 

And the dining room... this may be my favorite part of the downstairs living area. I LOVE the combination of the table with the mismatched chairs. Kelli and Landon snagged this gorgeous farmhouse table from World Market. The black chairs were dark wood and I had Kelli and Landon paint them black. We then added these gorgeous Ikat parson chairs from Ballard Designs and I must say, they add such a richness to the dining area. I LOVE them. We kept the West Elm drapes the same throughout the main level of the house- but in the dining area we added a sheer panel, also from West Elm, that has a decorative capiz trim to add a little glamour to the dining space.  

The rug was another part of the dining area that I just love. A cowhide always brings an imperfect and organic line into a space. With the strong rectangular dining table and chairs, the cowhide really softens the look of the dining area. Another reason that we brought in this cowhide was to break up the wood of the table and the darkness of the tables against the dark wood floors. The pale gray cowhide gives contrast and really makes the chairs pop.

This little bar/cabinet via Ikea was something that Kelli and Landon have had for years. They are looking to replace it in the next few years with a great big buffet, but until then, we made some great improvements to this piece so that it fit well within the space. I had Landon and Kelli paint it the warm gray of the living room (it was pale, raw wood before) and we added a pair of gorgeous little knobs from Anthropologie to spice it up a bit. We then decked out the shelving with silver, white and crystal pieces.
